Fun Fact About The Handshake

The handshake is said to have started in ancient times when soldiers used swords to fight, carrying their swords in cases on their left sides, thus being able to draw their swords with their right hands. When soldiers came in friendship and meant no harm, they began to shake hands with their right hands, keeping their swords on their left sides. Today, the handshake in general is a universal gesture of friendship, respect, trust, greeting, congratulations and agreement. However, some countries show greetings in other ways, such as a kiss on the cheek, a bow or The Namaste.

An important life skill, we teach our students the nuances of proper greetings and handshakes in all types of business and social settings.
