A Graduation Thank You Note Is For Gifts That Come In Many Forms…

You did it, you graduated! All your hard work, dedication, perseverance, focus, late nights perhaps a few all-nighters have gotten you to this time in your life; congratulations!

For those that have shown their love, pride, support, confidence, time through these last years behind the scenes and right alongside you: tell them in handwritten form how much they and their efforts mean to you.

A Graduation Thank You note is for gifts that come in many forms, in addition to monetary via gift cards or a special/specific present. Just as important are:
– Your parents’, family’s and partners’ eternal backing and advocacy on all your forays and journeys;
– Teachers, professors, coaches of all types, TAs, SAs, who encouraged expanded learning, discipline, growth, evolutionary thinking, continuous creating, new ways of approaching;
– Your tutors’ aid, diligence and inspiration;
– The comfort and joy of your friendships.

A basic thank you is comprised of:
– Your greeting;
– An acknowledgment (of your relationship and of the gift);
– The words thank you;
– Your closing.

Take it a step further for physical gifts by personalizing:
– Add a thoughtful note how you plan to use the gift card;
– Speak to how perfect the gift will look on your table, desk or nightstand;
– Say how every time you look at it, it will remind you of them (and if pertinent, a specific memory).

For the special people in your life who have seen you through all your ups and downs:
– Your love and support mean the world to me;
– I am beyond grateful to you have you in my life, and here is why;
– You have been by my side all these years and my appreciation for you is ever deep;
– Your care and devotion have touched me in ways I’ll always cherish;
– I couldn’t have gotten to this place in my life without the generosity you show me through;
– Your leadership/companionship/support are so important to me as you helped me to;
– I am excited to imagine all the possibilities (in this area) and this is based on your belief in me and what I can accomplish;
– You opened my eyes to curiosity and fresh perspectives (in specific area) that will help launch me in;
– My dreams are possible because I have you in my life and I want to acknowledge all the ways;
– Thank you for sharing my special day with me, it means more than words can express;
– Remember when we discussed/tried/played/created (this)? I am thrilled to delve even further.

There are plentiful sources for finding thank you cards/address labels: online, small/local businesses, handmade/personally created, artists’ markets… Set your intentions to write a few each day with the goal of genuinely thanking everyone within two to three weeks after graduation.

“Appreciation is a wonderful thing. It makes what is excellent in others belong to us as well.” – Voltaire
